The Accounting Specialist will provide accounting support to major financial accounting areas, including the accounts payable desk, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation.


Essential Functions.

  1. Provide timely and accurate payment processing by processing accounts payable checks semi-weekly.
  2. Input credit and debits to the accounting system in support of the payables work.
  3. Develop and maintain reports and files on the Accounts Payable processing.
  4. Input general ledger entries for account changes.
  5. Develop and maintain reports and files on asset and liability account balances.
  6. Develop and maintain regular reports via the company’s accounting system.
  7. Determines if funds are available for expenditures or requisitions and posts to proper account; monitors fund/account balances and notifies appropriate personnel when limits are reached.
  8. Maintains special logs or records and balances and reconciles internal accounts or records with university system; verifies accuracy and completeness and makes necessary adjustments. 
  9. Reviews computer reports to identify and trace sources of error; makes necessary corrections. 
  10. Prepares a variety of straightforward special and recurring accounting-related reports, summaries, financial statements, statistical reports, and reconciliation.

  12. Controls small petty cash fund; authorizes disbursement and fund replenishment; prepares necessary entries. 
  13. Contacts department personnel, account representatives or other appropriate personnel regularly to resolve problems; keeps all parties informed and serves as a reference source; composes correspondence of technical nature pertaining to assignments. 


  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting and three + years of relevant experience.
  • Accounting/Finance knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures that is reflective of the financial services industry.
  • Proven, solid Excel skills and exposure to automated accounting systems.
  • Proficient in Deltek Costpoint.
