Social Solutions International seeks an experienced professional to lead the CIRCLE Project’s core tasks in Knowledge Management, Communications Development, and Communities of Practice.


The Coordinating Implementation Research to Communicate Learning and Evidence (CIRCLE) Project provides technical, logistical, and administrative support to USAID’s Health Research Program, within the Bureau for Global Health, Office of Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition. CIRCLE’s goal is to facilitate and support systematic research and research translation to accelerate Ending Preventable Child and Maternal Deaths, an AIDS-Free Generation, and advance other global health priorities.


CIRCLE seeks an experienced maternal and child health professional to lead the Project’s core tasks in Knowledge management, communications development, and leading communities of practice.  This work will also cover international program management, program design, strategic planning, and evaluation of activities.


  • Provide overall strategic vision for the project’s communications, knowledge management and communities of practice activities
  • Execute and manage staff to achieve an annual communications work-plan
  • Manage consultants and subcontractors to develop communications materials in a variety of formats
  • Contribute to ensuring thought leadership of Health Research Program through research translation, availability of new research findings, and innovative presentations of existing data and research.
  • Evaluate the activities of the project’s components in Knowledge management, communications, and communities of practice
  • Prepare or coordinate preparation of reports and analyses, briefings, publications, and other means of promoting wide understanding of improved knowledge methods and public health practice
  • Applying best practices to lead and support and build learning communities around priority maternal and child health issues
  • Serve as a program manager for project tasks or other activities required for a flexible and small team
  • Provide technical guidance as needed to the Project’s international field programs, and ensure learnings are translated and integrated into the overall program learnings
  • Participate in technical working groups as appropriate on maternal and child health
  • International and domestic travel approximately 20%


  • Master’s degree or higher in public health or a related social science field.
  • Ten years’ experience in communications, knowledge management and/or participating in communities of practice for global health programs
  • Knowledge of research translation/utilization and policy, program design, and implementation
  • Experience managing or working with global maternal and child health issues desired
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, and problem-solving skills working on and providing expert coordination of complex projects
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Experience developing content for different communication channels
  • Demonstrated ability to organize workload, respond to multiple demands, and meet short deadlines
  • Ability to work flexibly with a small inter-disciplinary team, assuming and delegating additional tasks as required.
  • Proficiency with French or Spanish preferred
  • US citizenship or US permanent residency required
