    The Coordinating Implementation Research to Communicate Learning and Evidence (CIRCLE) Project, is the first award of the next generation USAID Health Research Program. CIRCLE supports and coordinates efforts across ​the program, including: stakeholder engagement and knowledge management to facilitate communication and collaborative learning; strategic planning; research translation; targeted technical assistance in implementation research; and other activities to advance research-to-use processes. Activities under CIRCLE span programmatic, technical, logistical and administrative support. Examples of specific tasks include: (1) convening and facilitating meetings; (2) mobilizing subject matter experts; (3) conducting or commissioning research, including landscape analyses on emerging health issues; (4) knowledge management to support dissemination and utilization of research findings; and (5) establishing communities of practice on implementation research and other specific areas.

     

    CIRCLE Project has an immediate opening for a Research Associate I (RA) on full-time basis. The work includes technical and logistical/administrative tasks.

     

    The Research Associate I (RA) plays an integral part to the CIRCLE team. The RA performs a variety of knowledge management, research, logistical, clerical and computer-related tasks that involve daily deadlines.

    Responsibilities

    Position is highly independent and requires frequent email availability and phone contact throughout the day. It requires ability to travel locally to meetings. Work will be done in the Rockville, MD, office and remotely. Position is full-time and may require additional hours including weekend hours when deadlines loom.

     

    1. Process information and data: Analyze and generate information, literature, and/or data related to project activities 
    2. Writing: Write documents, such as drafting literature reviews, reports, and website content (e.g. blog posts, content for long-form, impact stories) 
    3. Develop content expertise: Gather information about a particular content area, be able to express key findings orally and in writing 
    4. Problem solving: Recommend solutions to problems, seek advice and guidance on which solutions to apply 
    5. Project task management: Manage several tasks associated with an activity, on time and with a commitment to quality 
    6. Administrative and contracts management: Complete administrative and contracts management tasks related to project activities, including developing meeting agendas and writing meeting action items

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Global Health or equivalent and 2 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health preferred
    • Experience with writing health research documents, including website content
    • Experience working with USAID preferred

    7. Ability to problem-solve, including being able to identify problems and make recommendations for resolving
    8. Ability to manage and prioritize the tasks associated with an activity or activities
    9. Ability to research and prepare literature reviews and other research and writing assignments
