    The Coordinating Implementation Research to Communicate Learning and Evidence (CIRCLE) Project supports the USAID Health Research Program. CIRCLE provides support for: implementation research, stakeholder engagement, knowledge management to facilitate communication and collaborative learning; strategic planning and research translation. Activities under CIRCLE span programmatic, technical, logistical and administrative support. Examples of specific tasks include: (1) convening and facilitating meetings; (2) mobilizing subject matter experts; (3) conducting or commissioning implementation research, (4) knowledge management to support dissemination and utilization of research findings; and (5) establishing communities of practice on implementation research and other specific areas.


    CIRCLE Project has an immediate opening for a Project Associate (PA) on full-time basis. The work includes technical and logistical/administrative tasks, with a focus on supporting the communities of practice. USAID defines a “community of practice” as “groups of people who share a concern or passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly.” These groups stimulate dialogue, capture and diffuse existing knowledge, support collaboration, organize members around purposeful action, generate new knowledge and help to connect people who might not ordinarily interact.

    Responsibilities

    Summary of Responsibilities

    The PA for Communities of Practice (CoP) plays an integral part to the CIRCLE team. The PA will perform a variety of knowledge exchange, logistical, clerical and computer-related tasks that involve daily deadlines. The PA will schedule telephone calls and webinars , assist presenters in preparing for calls and webinars, help administer the CoP platform and its membership, provide technical support for CoP, and provide logistical and administrative support. The PA will also support the CoP webpages by adding new materials and links to the CoP webpage.

     

    In addition to supporting the Project’s CoP, the Project Associate will serve as a support member of the CIRCLE team, assisting with organizing meetings, taking notes at project meetings, and helping with other tasks associated with other activities on the project.

    1. Process information and data: Analyze information and/or data related to communities of practice
    2. Writing: Draft website content for the communities of practice pages
    3. Develop content: Scan the literature on technical topics related to CoP, summarize key findings, and share it with members
    4. Problem solving: Recommend solutions to problems, seek advice and guidance on which solutions to apply
    5. Project task management: Manage several tasks associated with an activity, on time and with a commitment to quality
    6. Administrative and contracts management: Complete administrative and contracts management tasks related to project activities, including developing meeting agendas and writing meeting notes and action items
    7. Provide logistical support to meetings, conferences and workshops supported by the project, including: venue selection, travel arrangements of participants; general communication with meeting participants as needed; purchase of meeting supplies; printing of materials; and other logistics-related responsibilities as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Global Health, liberal arts or business or equivalent and 2 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience with online platforms such as WordPress and Google preferred
    • Experience with organizing and managing meeting logistics and note taking
    • Knowledge of and interest in Global Maternal, Newborn and Child Health  
    • Experience with writing health research documents, including website content
    • Experience working with USAID preferred
    • Demonstrated appropriate interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, which have resulted in effective team membership
    • Ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously in a dynamic environment
    • Demonstrated ability to work with internal and/or external clients and provide required services
    • Strong writing and communication skills
    • Proven skills in the effective use of information technology, including (Google platform, Word, Excel, , database, PowerPoint, WordPress, etc.).
    • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
    • Ability to maintain a positive and respectful attitude
    • Ability to problem-solve, including being able to identify problems and make recommendations for resolving
    • Ability to manage and prioritize the tasks associated with an activity or activities

     

    Position requires the ability to work independently and requires frequent email availability and phone contact throughout the day. It requires ability to travel locally to meetings and possibly internationally. Work will be done in the Rockville, MD, office and remotely.
