Overview of the Position

Social Solutions is seeking a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for the anticipated USAID-funded Nepal Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (Nepal MEL) Activity.  The Nepal MEL Activity will support USAID/Nepal by providing technical and advisory services in planning, designing, conducting, disseminating, and learning from monitoring and evaluation of the Mission’s portfolio activities, in order to improve the achievement and sustainability of USAID’s development outcomes.

 

The DCOP will assist the Chief of Party in all aspects of project implementation, including leadership, technical direction, and management of project activities and results.

 

This is a full-time position contingent upon donor award.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and managerial leadership to the project, in close coordination with and under the direction of the COP;
  • Provide technical leadership to the project’s MEL activities;
  • Support the COP in representing the project to donors, partners, other implementers, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders;
  • Represent the project in relevant partnership meetings and other forums as required
  • Identify and maximize opportunities to raise the visibility and profile of the project;
  • Serve as acting Chief of Party when the Chief of Party is on leave or away from post ,and Undertake other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in international development, social sciences or a related field;
  • Minimum 8 years of demonstrated experience managing teams or projects in at least one of the following technical areas: research design and data collection; collaborating, learning and adapting (CLA); knowledge management; monitoring and evaluation; and capacity building of USAID mission staff and local partner organizations;
  • Excellent team leadership, representational, management, and communication skills;
  • Prior experience managing USAID programs preferred;
  • Fluency in spoken and written Nepali and English is highly preferred; English language proficiency is required.
  • Prior experience working in Nepal and the surrounding region strongly preferred.
