GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The U.S. Global Malaria Coordinator (hereto referred to as the Coordinator) is seeking a Program Assistant to provide full-time assistance to him as he leads the US President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI). The Program Assistant will provide support to the Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator, performing a variety of both complex and routine executive administrative duties ranging from scheduling briefings and meetings, arranging travel, escorting guests, and maintaining program files and spreadsheets.
BACKGROUND
The U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative is the largest effort in history to control malaria in Africa and the Greater Mekong region in Asia. PMI is the U.S. Government’s flagship global malaria initiative led by USAID and implemented together with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Initiative is results-based, focused, and exhibits a high level of financial and programmatic accountability. Leadership, management, and oversight of PMI are carried out under the leadership of the U.S. Global Malaria Coordinator, who has oversight over all resources and international activities of the U.S. Government related to efforts to combat malaria. The Coordinator is appointed by the President and reports to the USAID Administrator, and leads an Interagency Advisory Group made up of representatives from USAID, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Defense, State Department, National Security Council, Peace Corps, and Office of Management and Budget.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Program Assistant to the U.S. Global Malaria Coordinator will provide overall routine and ad hoc administrative support to him and his deputy, including but not limited to:
