Overview of the Position

Social Solutions seeks Technical Experts for short- or long-term technical assistance or surge support for the anticipated Technical, Administrative, and Professional Support (TAPS) Mechanism funded by the USAID’s Bureau of Resilience and Food Security (RFS). TAPS will support existing RFS programming by providing the Bureau and other USAID operating units with entry-to-expert level human resource services and technical assistance across various functions. The services provided will support a wide range of inclusive agriculture-led growth, resilience, nutrition, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) activities aligned to the objectives of the Global Food Security Strategy (GFSS), the Global Water Strategy (GWS), the Multisector Nutrition Sector, the USAID Climate Strategy, and the USAID Resilience Strategy.

Responsibilities

Social Solutions seeks Technical Experts to provide on-demand, short-term support over the duration of the TAPS mechanism. Technical Experts will have relevant regional/country experience in Global Food Security Strategy focus countries, Water for the World priority countries, USAID nutrition priority countries, and USAID resilience focus countries. Receiving employment under the TAPS contract is contingent upon funding.

  • Value Chains and Market Development
  • Horticulture
  • Livestock
  • Cooperative Development
  • Nutrition 
  • Maternal and Child Health 
  • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) 
  • Water Sector Management and Governance
  • Resilience and Climate Change Mitigation 
  • Livelihoods 
  • Environment and Natural Resource Management (NRM)
  • Private Sector Engagement

Qualifications

  • MBA or a Master’s Degree in International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or an area related to the list above 
  • Ten (10) years of experience supporting donor-funded international development programs; experience with USAID-funded programs preferred
  • Experience working within a developing country context, particularly relevant regional/country experience in Global Food Security Strategy focus countries, Water for the World priority countries, USAID nutrition priority countries, and USAID resilience focus countries 
  • Ability to engage with a range of stakeholders and clients, including USAID, Social Solutions, its partners, and staff 
  • Strong problem solving, research, analytical, and reporting capabilities 
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills; experience in other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic) are strongly preferred
