Overview of the Position

Social Solutions is seeking a Deputy Project Director for an anticipated, USAID-funded IDIQ. The IDIQ will provide administrative, technical, and programmatic staff support services to field-based programs managed by USAID.

 

The Deputy Project Director will report to the Project Director (PD) and provide operational oversight for the project including human resource, financial, and administrative tasks. This position will be contingent upon award and is expected to be a full-time role based in Washington D.C., United States.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the recruitment of project staff, budget development and monitoring, prime award monitoring and compliance, task order management, procurement, and logistics. 
  • Establish and maintain sound human resource and financial management practices within the IDIQ and subsequent task orders while ensuring alignment with USAID procedures, rules, and regulations. 
  • Work with Social Solutions to oversee compliance and performance (financial, operational, technical, etc.) of the IDIQ and task orders. 
  • Support the PD in liaising with country and development partners and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as acting PD when they are on leave or away from post, and undertake other duties as assigned.
  • Represent the IDIQ and task orders in relevant meetings and other forums, as well as identify and maximize opportunities to raise the visibility and profile of the contract including marketing its offerings to missions and other operating units of USAID.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree, or a Bachelor’s degree with six to seven (6-7) additional years of experience, in business administration, public administration, human resources, international development, finance, or another relevant field.
  • At least four (4) years of progressive experience managing financial, operational, and human resource functions on contracts of similar size and complexity within international development within fragile environments; USAID experience required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience successfully managing and leading high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with local professionals, international donors, host country government counterparts, and other implementing partners.
  • Strong understanding of USAID policy priorities and operational guidance. 
  • Superb interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
