Social Solutions is seeking a Training and Logistics Officer for the USAID/Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA)-funded Climate Smart and Disaster Ready (CSDR) cooperative agreement. This four-year program will focus on establishing the Melanesian Youth Climate Corps (MYCC) with a focus on empowering youth in the Pacific Island Countries of Fiji, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands to be leaders within their communities.

 

The Training and Logistics Officer will be responsible for the development and facilitation of the MYCC curriculum. They will work closely with Advisory Groups, USAID/BHA, and key stakeholders to co-develop and tailor curricula that are feasible and impactful. They will also support internal program training in areas such as code of conduct and policies. The Training and Logistics Officer will report to the Program Director and be full-time position based in Suva, Fiji.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive online and in-person training plans aligned with program objectives, locally led development principles, and USAID guidelines.
  • Co-design and co-create training curricula and materials in partnership with youth-serving organizations, government agencies, and DRR- or CCA-focused organizations to leverage resources and expertise for capacity-strengthening efforts.
  • Support baseline and endline performance evaluations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to local trainers, facilitators, and advisory group members to ensure effective delivery of training programs and activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training interventions, including collecting feedback, preparing reports, and implementing feedback.
  • Contribute to the development of criteria for selecting fellows and internship/practicum placement sites, ensuring alignment with program goals and principles.
  • Participate in semi-annual learning sessions with advisory group members to facilitate program adaptations and improvements based on feedback and lessons learned.
  • Collaborate closely with the Program Director on key program initiatives, deliverables, and other priorities as needed.
  • Support local logistics, liaise with vendors and service providers, and facilitate payments and acquittals as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in international development, environmental studies, education, business, organizational development, or another relevant field.
  • At least four (4) years of experience designing and delivering training programs, preferably related to climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and/or youth empowerment.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong initiative skills and ability to complete tasks both independently and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with multicultural audiences.
  • Experience working within a variety of diverse Pacific Island communities.
  • Advanced professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
